Perth Undergraduate Choral Society

I am a member of the committee of the Perth Undergraduate Choral Society, in the positions of Publicity Officer and IT Officer. These roles involve creating promotional materials for the concerts and membership recruitment, managing the public advertising campaigns for upcoming concerts and events and the management and continued development of the website.

"Reveille" was a concert of music made popular during the war eras of our history.

The "Night Fall" concert was a showcase of sublime and moving choral music inspired by the nocturnal hours.

The "L'Amour et La Mort" concert explored the deepest human emotions of love, loss, death, loyalty, desire, spirit and the soul.

"Sing With PUCS" was a choral workshop, when the choir opened it's membership for an afternoon to the general public to rehearse and perform a selection of PUCS recent repertoire. In addition to creating promotional items and advertising the event, I also managed the information provided to the new choristers. This included producing comprehensive information packages which was distributed to new and existing members of the choir.

The "Satu Suara" concert series performed by PUCS was an ecletic performance of world music featuring over nine languages from seven countries - South Africa, England, Scotland, Portugual, Australia, Indonesia and Haiti.

The "Choral Classics" concert performed by PUCS featured some of the most beautiful and influential pieces of the classical era, accompanied by an organ.

With the recruitment posters for the years advertising needing a revamp, I used well-known slogans that would communicate the recruitment message visually. This poster borrows from the Water Corporation's current campaign, Target 60 - the idea being that if you could save time in your daily showers by joining a choir instead!

The universal icon "Uncle Sam" from the 1917 United Stated Army recruitment propaganda features on this recruitment poster.

There has been plenty of scientific studies into the mental and physical health benefits of joining a choir or singing in a group. Join a choir and enjoy the calming effects on your life!
